The mandate of CISA is to be a centre of excellence in assisting the police services and government in Alberta to prevent, detect, deter, and combat organized and serious crime through the facilitation of information and intelligence sharing, production and dissemination of strategic, operational and tactical intelligence and development of partnerships with the goal of providing safe communities for all Albertans.

CISA takes a leadership role in the education of Albertans and the law enforcement community on the character, nature, and harms created by organized and serious crime in Alberta.

CISA also strategically supports the efforts of the Canadian law enforcement community in its effort to detect, prevent, disrupt and suppress organized and serious criminal activities affecting Canada, through contributions in support of Criminal Intelligence Service Canada.
