The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Units (CFSEU) investigate, disrupt and dismantle serious criminal activity such as drug trafficking networks and marihuana grow operations. Most are linked to organized crime and gangs. The teams are made up of high-skilled investigators who often conduct long-term, in-depth, undercover operations that have a significant impact on reducing crime in our communities. CFSEU also provides leadership, expertise and assistance to Alberta law enforcement agencies investigating serious and organized crime cases. Organized crime is directly tied to much of Alberta's serious and violent crime. By targeting organized crime groups, ALERT can significantly lower rates of victimization related to drugs, weapons and fraud offences and make the province safer. CFSEU operates teams in Calgary, Edmonton, Medicine Hat and Fort McMurray. Three additional teams are planned in Grande Prairie, Red Deer and Lethbridge. The teams are supported by other ALERT enforcement units like Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN), Fugitive Apprehension Sheriffs Support Team (FASST) and Sheriffs Investigative Surveillance Units (SISU). |
