ALERT was formed in 2006 to disrupt and dismantle serious and organized crime across the province, enhancing safety for all Albertans. ALERT is a made-in-Alberta solution to an ever evolving gang and organized crime problem. We have over 400 municipal police, RCMP members, and sheriffs who are part of elite teams that investigate serious crimes like drug trafficking, gangs and child exploitation.

The strength of the ALERT model lies in the integration of members from various agencies who have expertise in intelligence, enforcement, and support services. Teams include:

Alberta Specialized Law Enforcement Training (ASLET) Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU)
Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta (CISA) Fugitive Apprehension Sheriffs Support Team (FASST)
Integrated Threat Risk Assessment Centre (I-TRAC) Internet Child Exploitation (ICE)
Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN)
