ALERT concludes drug trafficking investigation in Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat…On January 25, 2012, ALERT‘s Medicine Hat Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU),  an integrated team of Medicine Hat Police Service and RCMP members, concluded a drug trafficking  investigation with the arrest of 18-year-old Medicine Hat resident, Daniel Vierling.

A search warrant was executed on Vierling’s residence located at Cairns Way SE where investigators seized 7.5 grams of cocaine, 25 grams of marihuana, and 19 grams of psilocybin (mushrooms).  The estimated street value of drugs seized is $1,110.

Daniel Vierling has been charged with three counts of trafficking cocaine, two counts of trafficking marihuana, one count of trafficking psilocybin, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking marihuana, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking psilocybin, possession of marihuana resin and possession of proceeds of crime.  His next scheduled court date is February 7, 2012.

CFSEU-Medicine Hat is an ALERT team established and funded by the Government of Alberta to bring together the province’s most sophisticated law enforcement resources and tools to combat organized crime.  Over 400 municipal police, RCMP, and sheriffs work for ALERT.
