Stolen Handguns Recovered in Calgary Drug Arrests

Calgary… Two handguns that were previously reported stolen have been recovered as part of a Calgary drug arrest by Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT).

ALERT Calgary, an integrated team consisting of Calgary Police Service and RCMP members, seized the handguns on June 18 after executing search warrants at downtown apartment and at a home in the Erin Woods community. The search warrants came as result of a drug trafficking investigation.

In addition to the guns, an estimated $30,000 worth of cocaine and pills was seized. Seized items included:

  • Smith and Wesson M&P9 handgun;
  • Colt Gold Cup Trophy .45 handgun;
  • 179 rounds of ammunition;
  • 251 grams of cocaine;
  • 51 Percocet pills;
  • 246 grams of marihuana;
  • $7,595 cash proceeds of crime.

Both handguns were previously reported stolen and will be subject of forensic analysis to determine if they were used in any other crimes.

Three people have been arrested and are facing a combined 29 charges related to guns and drugs:

  • Jeffery McDonald, 22, of Calgary;
  • Michael Oria, 19, of Calgary;
  • Ashleigh Aguilar, 21, of Calgary.

Members of Alberta Sheriffs, Calgary Police Service, Edmonton Police Service, Lethbridge Regional Police Service, Medicine Hat Police Service, and RCMP work in ALERT.
