ALERT concludes drug trafficking investigation in Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat… ALERT‘s Medicine Hat Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU),  an integrated team of Medicine Hat Police Service and RCMP members, concluded a brief drug trafficking investigation on June 30 with the arrest of two men just outside the city.

With the assistance of the Medicine Hat Police Service patrol section, CFSEU investigators stopped a vehicle travelling eastbound on the Trans-Canada Highway towards Medicine Hat. Following a search of the vehicle, investigators seized 30 grams of cocaine, worth an estimated street value of $7,500.

The two occupants of the vehicle who were arrested and charged are:

  • Medicine Hat resident David NESBIT, age 22, male, with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; and
  • Maple Creek resident Terrin WAWIA, age 19, male, with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Both men were brought before a bail justice and released on recognizance. Their next court appearance is scheduled for July 17, 2012.
