Australian Child Exploitation Suspect Facing New Charges Abroad

Edmonton… New charges have been laid against a 41-year-old Australian man in relation to an ALERT Internet Child Exploitation investigation.

Aaron Voon was arrested on June 9 at Perth Airport by Australia’s Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET). Voon has been charged with possession of child exploitation material and appeared in a Perth court on June 10.

Using information provided by ICE investigators in Edmonton, Australia’s JACET executed search warrants at Voon’s home and at his business. It is alleged the man had possession of a number of images classified as child exploitation material.

Voon was previously charged in Edmonton following a joint investigation between ALERT ICE and Edmonton Police Service. On May 22 Voon allegedly filmed a boy using the washroom at the West Edmonton Mall and he was charged with possession of child pornography, making child pornography, and voyeurism.

Voon appeared in Edmonton court on June 2 and he was released on $75,000 bail.
