One man returned to federal custody for breaching parole

Calgary… Three men face numerous charges after Calgary’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-Calgary) worked in partnership with the Drumheller RCMP to target drug trafficking in the community.

CFSEU-Calgary, an integrated team of Calgary Police Service and RCMP members, executed search warrants at two separate residences in Drumheller on October 25. As a result, police seized three grams of cocaine, 47 grams of marihuana, 17 grams of psilocybin (mushrooms), $9,000 in cash, and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

“We know drug trafficking impacts the safety of both large and small communities across Alberta,” said CFSEU-Calgary’s A/Sgt. Rob Mackenzie. “Along with our partners, we will continue to work in both urban and rural areas to target people who endanger our communities by engaging in this kind of activity.”

The following people face charges:

  • Cyril PERRY, age 31, is charged with possession of the proceeds of crime and has been released on his own recognizance.
  • Christopher SHAPKA, age 35, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime. He has been released on his own recognizance and ordered to abide by a number of conditions.
  • Peter SHOKAL, age 68, is charged with possession of a controlled substance. SHOKAL was on parole for previous drug-related convictions and has been returned to federal custody to serve his remaining sentence.
